Senior Medical Director (Tagrisso), Oncology Global Medicines Development, AstraZeneca
Dr Cantarini, MRCP, FFPM, left the NHS in 1999 and has been in the pharmaceutical industry for 17 years, currently a Senior Medical Director in AstraZeneca. After initial training in clinical pharmacology, with an interest in pharmacogenetics, she moved into early clinical development of molecularly targeted small molecules for oncology indications. She was responsible for all pivotal studies from the first-into-man to registration for the Tagrisso (AZD9291) project, and has a number of publications in high impact journals (Nature Medicine, New England Journal of Medicine, Cancer Discovery) relating to this project. She has given lectures as part of MRes and MSc courses at the University of Manchester and UCL. In addition, she is a Member of the Board of Examiners for the Diploma in Pharmaceutical Medicine.
