Head of Data Science, The Institute of Cancer Research
Bissan is driven by the conviction that having the biggest picture will guide towards solving the toughest problems, and that data, organised well, holds clues well beyond our imagination. Having gained a degree in molecular biology and masters in computing science, Bissan did a PhD in Cambridge in Computational Biology. She joined the ICR in 2008 to develop Big data methodologies to guide innovative drug discovery. Her team have developed canSAR, the largest drug discovery knowledge base and led pioneering approaches for drug target selection. As well as loving her family and her research, Bissan has a third love: powered flight. She is training for her private pilot license.
